Tirumala Footpath Experience

Tirumala Footpath Experience

It was my long time wish to take footpath to Tirumala. But due to knee pain, i was controlling my eagerness for past 2 years. Finally we decided to give a go and hired a cab from Chennai to Tirumala.
There are two footpaths, Srivari mettu which is 3 kms in distance with 2400 steps, where as Alipiri footpath is 9 kms in distance with 3550 steps. Five of us started our trekking from Alipiri footpath at morning 5 am. We kept our baggages in car and proceeded with only one water bottle, money purse, PS camera and our mobiles. There is a facility at the start up point to keep your baggages in locker. You need to get the receipt and reproduce same after reaching uphill to collect.

Dhanushkodi Trip

Dhanushkodi or Danushkodi is a town/village at the southern tip of Rameswaram island, on the eastern coast of the Tamil Nadu state of India. Dhanushkodi has the only land border between India and Sri Lanka which is one of the smallest in the world-just 45 meters in length on a shoal in Palk Strait. Before the 1964 cyclone, Dhanushkodi was a flourishing tourist and pilgrimage town.
"A cyclonic storm with high velocity winds and high tidal waves hit Dhanushkodi town from 22 December 1964 midnight to 25 December 1964 evening causing heavy damages and destroying the entire town of Dhanushkodi" - Wikipedia Source

On our recent trip to Rameshwaram, we also visited Danushkodi. Initially i was little bit scared to visit this place as i heard about its destruction story.
We saw the Remnants of the Dhanushkodi Railway Station, Church and Post Office. I was just thinking about the people who died there due to cyclone. The sea water is crystal clear and no one is allowed here after 6 pm. There are many stories behind this but i'm not sure what could be the main reason.

New Visitor to My Home

Today Morning, when my husband entered to the kitchen, he saw this cute birdie on our kitchen slab. He called me and showed this birdie. I was in surprise how it entered. When we were trying to get it away from home, it made to us to run whole house from kitchen to shoe rack to bed :) Finally we were successful.
We couldn't take clear pictures as both of us were running behind it.

The Old Curiosity Shop - Vast Collection of Props

The Old Curiosity Shop is not known to everybody. Last weekend my search for vintage props ended at this shop which is situated opposite to Spencer Plaza, Chennai.
Somehow found this shop and when went inside, i was just mesmerized by their collections. I was like i want everything :)
But a big shock hit me when owner said not everything is for sale. The owner has collected old vintage cookwares from all over the world. Each one has its own history.
He was really kind enough to allow me to take photo of this vintage spoon at-least. I must say that this place is like a treasure for food bloggers.
You can get more info here.
